Care & Maintenance
The Corsica collection, featuring Aluminium and Polywood faux timber tables, is designed for durable, low-maintenance indoor and outdoor use. To preserve their fresh appearance over time, it’s advisable to shield these products from the elements when not in use. We recommend using a protective cover or storing them undercover when not in use. If located in close proximity to the sea, take extra precautions to prevent damage from sea salt corrosion.
Here are some tips to ensure the longevity of your furniture.
Cleaning Instructions:
Your aluminium and polywood table can be cleaned with everyday detergent. Polywood is essentially a plastic, so its structure is stable.
• Use a mixture of mild soap detergent (a dash of washing liquid will be fine) and water and simply wipe with a cloth, sponge or use a hose. After washing, thoroughly rinse with water.
• Do not use abrasive or strong chemicals to clean it, eg alcohol, petrol etc. The polywood won’t be affected but the colour may turn pale.
Maintenance:
• Cover when not in use.
• Temperature rating: -30ºC to +60ºC. Do not place hot pots, plates and cups directly onto the tabletop. We recommend the use of coasters and cork mats for protection.
• Cigarette burns: Polywood can be damaged by heat, including lit cigarettes, which may leave scorch marks or melt the surface.
• Polywood and aluminium should not be sanded or scrubbed with any abrasive cleaning agent or material, as it will scratch the material’s surface and void the warranty.
• Polywood lumber colours run continuously throughout the material, so no painting is required. We do not recommend painting your furniture as this will void the warranty.
• Wipe all spills immediately, particularly red wine, sauce or food with strong colour dyes.
• We recommend you do not place chairs, feet first on any table top. This can cause unnecessary wear and tear on your table top and if the chairs are dragged off the table top can cause additional scratches and distress to the surface. For better return on your investment and longevity of your table, invest in stacking chairs and store at the side of your room, rather than on top of your table.
MAINTENANCE OF ALUMINIUM FURNITURE
The beauty of aluminium furniture is its durability, lightweight and rust resistance, making it an ideal choice for Australian outdoor dining.
Aluminium furniture is a low maintenance choice, but here are a few tips to help you prolong the life of your assets.
CLEANING:
• To clean use mixture of mild soap detergent (a dash of washing liquid will be fine) and water and simply wipe with a cloth, sponge or use a hose.
• After washing, thoroughly rinse with water.
• For stubborn stains (such as bird droppings, tree gum), apply a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water to the stain, let it sit for 10 minutes, then gently wipe and rinse thoroughly.
• Avoid using bleach, abrasive chemicals, steel wool, hard brushes, waxes or polishes and as they can damage the product.
• If using a power washer avoid using high-pressure as this may damage the powder coating.
• Wipe all spills immediately, particularly red wine, sauce or food with strong colour dyes.
MAINTAINANCE:
Aluminium furniture requires no maintenance. However we recommend you regularly check your furniture and tighten any loose screws.
The best way to extend the life of your outdoor furniture is by:
• Cleaning it regularly and not leaving it outdoors unprotected more than necessary.
• We recommend the use of coasters and cork mats for protection,
• Avoid prolonged or excessive exposure to sunlight and other inclement weather,
• Avoid exposure to suntan oils and heavily chlorinated water as this may cause products to fade, dry out or speed up the effects of general wear and tear.
WEATHER PROTECTION
• Wipe dry and remove standing water promptly after rain or snow; rinse off residual snow-melting agents after snow.
• Cover with a waterproof cover when not in use for a long time,
• Store in ventilated position to allow air to circulate (allow air to circulate to avoid condensation).
OXIDATION TREATMENT
Over time your aluminium furniture may become scratched which leaves the aluminium below exposed to air.
This may lead to a chalky white reside appearing which is called oxidisation. This is a natural process that creates a protective layer and can easily be cleaned.
It’s important to note that aluminium doesn’t rust in the same way that iron or steel does. Rust on steel is a form of corrosion caused by iron oxide, oxidisation on aluminium is a natural process that creates a protective layer.
• Mild oxidation: Can be wiped with white vinegar solution.
• Severe oxidation: Use ultra-fine steel wool dipped in soapy water to gently wipe, then rinse and dry.
• The surface can then be sealed to protect it from further oxidisation.
